One of my favorite times of year is almost upon us … Halloween!! This year is especially exciting because now I have an adorable little girl to dress up! When I was picked by Costume Supercenter.com (the company that I have used two previous years to order costumes) to do a costume review, I was over the moon! From previous experience, I already knew they had a huge selection of costumes at great prices.
I have a little experience with Trick or Treating with infants from my nieces and nephews so I already had a set of criteria for what I was looking for in a Halloween costume for an infant.
- It has to be warm. More often than not, the night set for Trick or Treat is pretty chilly and you don’t want to be forced to cover up your little one’s costume with a coat.
- It has to be comfortable. I am all for dressing my little A up in the cutest clothes this side of the Mississippi, but I try to make sure she is going to be comfy in anything she is going to be wearing for an extended amount of time. This means no scratchy material or crazy contraptions.
- It has to be adorable. Provided that a costume meets my first two rules, I really want a costume that is really cute because right now It is my choice … In a few years she gets a voice and when she dresses as a zombie one year I can go back to the sweet pictures of her on her first Halloween and remember how precious she was.
I underestimated how hard it would be to pick just one costume and I had to call in reinforcements, luckily Oma (my mom) is always willing to lend a hand when it comes to little A. Looking through all of the costumes there were several that met my requirements, but when we came to the Inky Black Kitty costume we knew it was the one! My daughter loves kitties and on top of that the costume included a mouse shaped rattle . . . I was sold.
When A’s costume arrived, it was like Christmas, I was so excited to see how she would look. I have to say she looks quiet fetching dressed as a cat. The material the costume was made out of was very soft and it fit perfectly. A is currently between 6-9 and 9-12 month clothes so I ordered the 12-18 month size costume. It’s a bit long in the length, but she is not swimming in it, so I’m glad I went with the bigger size. I like that the body was one piece and is footed for extra warmth. The head piece is still soft and will be warm like a hat. The costume seems very well made and I am not worried about it holding up for the various Halloween events we have to attend.
My only complaint is that the bow is sewn on as bow tie so it looks more like a little boy’s costume. It would be nice if the bow was interchangeable so you could have be a bow tie for a boy or a hair bow for a girl. I plan on removing the bow and sewing it on to the head piece before Halloween.
Bottom line . . . If you are looking for a cute Halloween costume for you or your little one check out Costume Supercenter.com. You can’t beat their vast selection and quality. Best of all buying a costume from them, won’t break the bank!
